School Pathways Program
The Royal Life Saving School Pathway Program is a water safety, lifesaving and first aid skills program for high school students aiming to provide the skills and knowledge for first aid, staying safe in and around the water or offering assistance in a rescue.
The School Pathway Program recognises that students who participate in this program will gain skills and knowledge that may impact on their behaviours in aquatic locations and be able to render assistance in an emergency. It endeavours to teach participants a range of personal survival techniques and provide them with skills to deal with an emergency situation.
The School Pathway Program are the following courses:
- CPR
- First Aid
- Bronze Medallion
This particular course includes First Aid (incl. CPR) and Bronze Medallion and is partial completion of the VET course The Bronze Medallion (refer Course Outline here) AND First Aid (refer Course Outline here). Student are able to upgrade the course to a VET certificate or Statement of Attainment.
School Pathway Program Upgrade (to a VET Certificate or Statement of Attainment)
The School Pathway Program Upgrade allows students completing the Student Pathway Program to achieve Units of Competency in their chosen courses; CPR, First Aid and/or Bronze Medallion. These units can help students gain employment or progress towards VET Certificates such as the Certificate III in Aquatic and Community Recreation.
The upgrade can be arranged by contacting Royal Life Saving and arranging a face-to-face assessment day with a Royal Life Saving approved trainer and assessor.
These courses are not nationally accredited training, no units of competence will be issued.
