DESCRIPTION:22) Swim Teacher - Extension Course: People with a Disability (New Units) \n2024 DIS ONL\n\n\nThis course is an extension course for Swim Teachers looking to gain specialist knowledge in teaching participants with a disability during aquatic activities. \n\nIt applies to those conducting learn-to-swim and water safety classes in swimming pools and confined natural shallow water venues. This course will ensure that work is performed according to relevant legislation including working with children and/or vulnerable people checks\, organisational policies and procedures and best practice principles of aquatic activities. \n\nCandidates attending this course should hold a current swimming and water safety teacher (or equivalent such as RLSS\, AUSTSWIM or ASCTA) prior to attending.\n\nIs is assumed that participants are sufficiently physically fit and healthy to undertake this course. The following physical activities will occur during the course unless you advise of any physical difficulties or limitations: kneeling\, bending over\, crouching\, standing\, leaning\, sitting\, pushing\, lifting weights\, swimming long distance\, towing\, diving\, carrying and other physical activities. \n\nCourse Details\n\nPre-requisite:  \n\n\n	Existing Swim Teacher Certificate (RLSS / AUSTSWIM / ASCTA) with Units of Competence SISCAQU024\, SISCAQU025\n	Reasonable communication\, swimming & fitness is required\n\n\nCourse Length:  One day (6 hours) (an additional 3 hours for CPR) \n\nMinimum Age:  17 years old\n  \n\nUnit(s) of Competence\n\nThis course includes training for a workplace setting and upon satisfaction completion of all assessment activities\, a Statement of Attainment will be issued in the following Unit(s) of competence: \n\n\n	HLTAID009 Perform Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (Optional) (Online CPR)\n	SISCAQU012  Assist participants with a disability during aquatic activities\n\n\nPlease check with your employer or work place that these are the correct units of competence. \n\nIntroduction:\nThe Swim Teacher Course provides the minimum requirements for those wishing to be a learn to swim instructor.\n\nThe RLSS Swim Teacher course will provide participants with acceptable standards of knowledge‚ judgement and abilities to teach of children in swimming pools.\n\nOnce your certificate is issued‚ you will have the opportunity to apply for a RLSSQ Swim Teacher Licence as outlined in the Guidelines for Safer Pool Operations. \n\n\n\nTarget Audience:\nThe key candidates for this qualification are people seeking knowledge‚ skills and judgement for the teaching of swimming and water safety.\n\n\n\nLearning Outcomes:\n\n\n\nLearning Methods:\nPre-Course: \nParticipants are required to complete a Pre-Course Workbook before the face-to-face course. This may be completed online or paper-based. Your Trainer will provide you with the information to successfully complete your Pre-Course Workbook.\n\nFace-to-Face: \nParticipants are then required to attend the face-to-face component to complete the practical assessment.\n \nParticipants will require the following for the face-to-face component:\n\n	Photo Identification (i.e. Drivers Licence)\n	Your Unique Student Identifier (www.usi.gov.au)\n	Your manuals (if applicable)\n	Appropriate clothing\n\n\nCourse dates close one week before the commencement of the course so that participants have sufficient time to complete all pre-course learning activities. Pre-course learning activities need to be completed before the start of the face-to-face component. DESCRIPTION:30) Aquatic Technical Operator (Pool Plant Operations) \nATO/PPO\n\nRoyal Life Saving’s Aquatic Technical Operations course (previously know as Pool Plant Operations) provide the knowledge and skills to safely manage water quality and pool plant operations from the largest aquatic facility through to a single pool at a campground or motel\, or even your own backyard pool.\n\nThis is a unique skill set that is vital for the safe and successful operation of any organisation or facility that provides access to a swimming pool. The course focus includes monitoring and maintaining pool water quality\, operating plant/equipment\, risk management and developing maintenance programs and step by step procedures.\n \nPre-requisite: There are no pre-requisites for this course\, although some experience with pool plant equipment or operation is strongly recommended\nMinimum age: 16 years\nCourse Length: 16 hours (plus workplace activities)\n\nUnits of Competency:\n\n	BSBWHS308 Participate in WHS hazard identification\, risk assessment and risk control processes\n	SISXFAC009 Coordinate facility maintenance\n	SISCAQU015 Test pool water quality\n	SISCAQU016 Manage pool water quality\n	SISCAQU017 Monitor and maintain aquatic facility plant and equipment\n\nWorkplace Assessment: This course includes some workplace assessment activities that requires you to have a suitable workplace supervisor to confirm that you have successfully completed these activities.
