DESCRIPTION:11) Pool Lifeguard Award - Annual Re-Accreditation (incl. CPR) 🛟 \n2024 PLG Re-acc\n\nThis course will provide participants with acceptable standards of knowledge‚ judgement and physical abilities in the supervision of people in swimming pools. Essential modules include: accident prevention‚ administration‚ public relations‚ education‚ rescue response and basic technical operations.\nMinimum age requirement is 16 years.\n\nPre-requisites include a current First Aid Certificate (HLTAID011) and an expiring Royal Life Saving Society Pool Lifeguard & Oxygen including units of competency\n\n	HLTAID009 Perform Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation‚\n	SISCAQU019 Supervise patron safety in aquatic locations\n	SISCAQU020 Perform water rescues\n	SISCAQU021 Perform complex water rescues\n	SISCAQU022 Provide oxygen resuscitation and therapy in an aquatic environment\n\nThis course is for students who already have a Pool Lifeguard certificate‚ a copy of which (i.e. units of competency) will be required at the time of booking if issued by another provider.\n\nUpon successful course completion‚ participants will be issued with Pool Lifeguard Re-Accreditation certificate \n\nThe Royal Life Saving Pool Lifeguard needs to be renewed every 12 months. \n \n\nIntroduction:\nThe information provided here will assist you in deciding if the course selected is the right course for you.\n\nIt is assumed that participants are sufficiently physically fit and healthy to undertake this course. The following physical activities will occur during the course unless you advise of any physical difficulties or limitations: kneeling‚ bending over‚ crouching‚ standing‚ leaning‚ sitting‚ pushing‚ lifting weights\, swimming long distances\, towing\, diving\, carrying and other physical activity. \n\nThe specific requirements required for successful completion of the Pool Lifeguard Re-accreditation are: \n\nAssessment Activity 1: Answer a series of written questions based on:\n\n• Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation \n\n• Perform Basic Water Rescue\n\n• Supervise Clients in an Aquatic Facility or Environment. \n\n• Perform Advanced Water Rescues \n\n• Provide Emergency Care \n\n• Administer Oxygen in an Emergency Situation\n\n \n\nAssessment Activity 2: Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation \n\nDemonstration of the Primary Survey (DRSABCD) on Adult and Infant. Techniques performed as per:\n\n• Australian Resuscitation Council Guidelines;\n\n• First Aid Code of Practice;\n\n• Workplace Procedures; and\n\n• Relevant State/Territory Regulations.\n\nScenario 1: Safe Manual Handing\, rolling the unconscious casualty on the back and in to the recover position.\n\nScenario 2: Demonstration of the Primary Survey (DRSABCD) on an Adult and Infant manikin\n\n \n\nAssessment Activity 3: Pool Lifeguard Tasks (11 tasks to the successfully completed):\n\nTask PLG1: Communicate with aquatic facility patrons in a positive and constructive way to resolve situations\n \n\nTask PLG2: Participate in one discussion with an aquatic activity leader to clarify safety rules\n \n\nTask PLG3: Administer CPR\, incorporating supplemented oxygen with Bag-Valve-Mask\, to a child manikin\n \n\nTask PLG4: Non-swimming reach rescue of a conscious patient from out of water.\n \n\nTask PLG5: Non-swimming throw rescue of a conscious patient from out of water.\n \n\nTask PLG6: Perform a 10-metre swim and then a 10-metre non-contact tow before extracting patient from the water without assistance.\n \n\nTask PLG7: Perform a 10-metre swim and then a 10-metre contact tow before extracting patient from the water with assistance from one other person. \n \n\nTask PLG8: Perform a 10-metre swim and then a 10-metre contact tow of a conscious casualty before extracting patient from the water without assistance. \n \n\nTask PLG9: Rescue\, Extraction and Oxygen CPR\, complete incident report form\n \n\nTask PLG10: Respond to a patient with a suspected spinal injury in shallow water (1.2m or less) \n \n\nTask PLG11: 25m swim and 25m non-contact tow of a conscious casualty with an assisted landing.\n\n \n\nIndustry Recommended (IR) Assessment \n\n1) Assessment Task IR1: Respond to a patient with a suspected spinal in deep water (1.3 or more) \n\n2) Assessment Task IR2: Complete a Validation Swim \n\n3) Assessment Task IR3: Respond to a patient requiring First Aid with the use of oxygen therapy\n\n\n\n\nTarget Audience:\n\n\n\n\nLearning Outcomes:\n\n\n\nLearning Methods:\nCourse dates close one week before the commencement of the course so that participants have sufficient time to complete all pre-course learning activities. Pre-course learning activities need to be completed before the start of the face-to-face component. The pre-course work will develop your underpinning knowledge for the course to be undertaken.\n\nParticipants will require the following for the face-to-face component:\n- Photo Identification (i.e. Drivers Licence)\n- Your Unique Student Identifier (www.usi.gov.au)\n- Your manuals (if applicable)\n- Appropriate clothing\n- Any drinks‚ meals and/or snacks \n\nPre-Course: \nParticipants are required to complete a Pre-Course Workbook before the face-to-face course. This may be completed online or paper-based.
